Summer Holiday Diary | Week 6

MONDAY 26TH AUGUST
We're off to the seaside tomorrow for a couple of days, so there was a lot of house prep & packing that needed to be focused on and get done.

During bedtime routine this evening Alexander said he is really looking forward to going to Bournemouth - "I just can't stop thinking about it. I'm so excited I might not sleep much" - with a big old smile on his face.

TUESDAY 27TH AUGUST
Travel day: South Wales - Bournemouth.

The journey itself was just over three hours total, with plenty of time for us to enjoy a few hours at the beach once we'd arrived. The temperature was high (close to 30's) and the seafront was bustling, to say the least. We enjoyed playing in the sand, paddling in the water, wandering the pier and enjoying ice cream.

(Note: I will be doing individual daily entries for our time in Bournemouth in the coming week or so, as I did with our trip to Tenby. I find these to be a nice way to look back on the trip and seeing what we thought/felt at the time, so these are just the brief snippet round ups for the weekly summer holiday diaries)

WEDNESDAY 28TH AUGUST
Today we decided to split our day in two halves - we went to the East Beach for a few hours in the morning (were we spent our time yesterday), then spent an hour or so at the aquarium, before wandering along and exploring the West Beach.

THURSDAY 29TH AUGUST
Our last full day in Bournemouth, and we actually spent a large portion of our day away from Bournemouth itself, hopping on a city sightseeing bus headed for Poole Quay. In Poole Quay we enjoyed a boat cruise around the harbour and also walked a portion of the path that snakes around the quay/harbour area.

Late afternoon we were back in Bournemouth and were able to catch some of the air festival that started today (running over the next four days). We saw a couple of the plane displays, but what really stood out to me was the freefall parachute display.

FRIDAY 30TH AUGUST
Today we travelled home from Bournemouth, and it felt like a long old day - it tends to when travelling home from somewhere.

SATURDAY 31ST AUGUST
Today was a slow Saturday; the good kind of slow. We pretty much all had a PJ day.

In the morning Alexander had a lot of fun playing in the sink with his new animal toys he got at the aquarium on Wednesday. Later on in the day we spent some time together putting together a marble run; there was much excitement from Alexander with all the marbles running down.

SUNDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
The week started with prep & ended with it too - although prep of a different kind: back to school prep!
