With not a cloud in the sky and the sun high, we were provided with a warmth from very early on in the day - the kind of warmth that you just know will get quite muggy quite quickly. Given this, I decided to set out early and enjoy the delights of a summer morning here in the South Wales Valleys.
I began my walk by wandering along the canal path. I've spoken many times here on Captured by Jade about just how much I enjoy walking along the canal path (I love being by bodies of water), and on this day peacefulness was greatly felt. I took in the sights of lush greenery, bright wildflowers standing tall (yellow, purple and pink are common colours), and all types of insects appreciating the overgrown and wild nature running along the path.
From there I soon found myself under a canopy of trees on the woodland path that starts the journey back to my house. Underneath the trees it felt much cooler (thankfully), with a different environment & atmosphere than the one I discovered along the canal path. With the trees branching overhead, dappled light fell through now and again, with the scuffling of woodland wildlife keeping my eyes alert - I saw quite a few little birds flitting about. Whilst walking the wooded route, I did not encounter a singe other person.
Out of the trees, I continued home on a more residential route that follows the journey of a local river. Although I could not see the river, I could hear its gentle flow and found tranquillity in that.
This walk was a wonderful way to start my day.
Enjoy your outdoor adventures, and the beauty of nature!

ReplyDeleteYes, definitely a fun walk. It is always good to get out & about in nature.
DeleteLovely, lovely flowers, especially the purples. I enjoy walking at the local mountain paths where you can hear the river but rarely see it. The sound is soothing, as you say!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear somebody else enjoys that also :-)
DeleteMorning walks are the best and I need to get back into that habit. Beautiful flowers you saw on yours.
