My reading is much the same as the last time I updated with a Little Loves post, which was a while ago now! I'm still undertaking my Harry Potter reread and am currently reading book 5 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The book is mammoth in size - roughly 800 pages - and honestly, I struggle to even hold reading it for long periods of time!
WATCHED
I know a lot of people have probably been watching the Gilmore Girls revival this week, but since I haven't yet finished my rewatch of the original, I'm not one of those people and have been avoiding spoilers.
Something I have been watching a lot of lately is Person of Interest. I have no idea how I hadn't discovered this show sooner. Nathan has watched the first two seasons previously, and I was like why did you not tell me to watch this. I've literally watched two seasons in a little over a week - it is so my kind of show!
HEARD
As I mentioned above, I haven't participated in Little Loves for a couple of weeks, and so I didn't get to share the great news that Alexander got into our first choice of preschool. I'm so happy, and it is something that has been on my mind these last couple of months since applying. We are actually slightly out of catchment for this school, but it has better reports and on our visits Alexander and I both felt most comfortable in this environment, but being out of catchment obviously left us on the wait list. I'm really happy that Alexander secured a place here, and I just hope he continues in this school.

MADE
Not a lot at all of late. We'll be making our home more festive on the weekend, which I'm super excited for. Currently we have our advent calendar out, but due to timings and such, the decorations aren't out yet. We tend to put the tree up on/around the 1st.
A couple of weeks back I did also put together Alexander's book advent calendar.

WORE
We've been all bundled up of late - both outside and in! Our boiler broke on Wednesday evening, just when the cold temperatures were really hitting! Literally, you would have found Alexander and I wrapped up in fleeces and under multiple blankets! We had a freezing night as well as the following morning, but luckily we were able to have the boiler fixed by Thursday evening. I feel very thankful that we are in a position to have the boiler fixed that timely and are able to be warmed within our home.

AND LASTLY...
I took Alexander to have his flu jab done this week - it feels weird to call it a flu jab when no jabbing was involved. This was the first time I'd taken Alexander to have a jab done by myself (Nathan or my mum have come with me previously), and this was a big step for me in terms of anxiety. Going to the doctors in general, for me or Alexander, is a situation that heightens my anxiety, but when you involve the stress of jabs that anxiety can double. My mum offered to go with me for this appointment, and I thanked her but declined - I willingly took Alexander by myself. I know this seems like such a simple, normal parenting task to some people, but for me it was a really big deal. I survived our doctors trip, and I feel quite good in myself for conquering something I otherwise wouldn't. I've really been working to get a hold on my anxiety this year and steps like this help me so much.
I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

Aww so glad you got your first choice preschool! Indie is starting in January too and she cannot wait. Well done on battling your anxiety too :) x
ReplyDeleteAh, thank you! :-)
DeleteCongratulations on getting into your choice of preschool, is so nerve wracking isn't it? When we were waiting to find out if O had got into our first choice primary school I felt sick. A bit silly as we literally live round the corner so we were almost guaranteed a place, but you never know. I actually cried when we got the confirmation email! xx
ReplyDeleteHaha - I totally know that feeling!
Delete...a flu jab! Now that's a new one for me.
ReplyDeleteFlu jab / flu vaccine - either or. Here in the UK, children under a certain age as well as adults with a weakened immune system are eligible to have the jab free... Although anyone can have it. It's suppose to prevent any flu like symptoms over the winter period!
DeletePerson of Interest sounds... interesting. Created by Jonathan Nolan, brother of Christopher Nolan. This is interesting too. :)
ReplyDeleteI have the flu vaccine every year.
Thank you for the heart-warming post. Have a lovely weekend!
Haha! Yes - there are some very cool and talented people working on the production of Person of Interest. If you're able to, you should check it out!
DeleteThe flu vaccine for children this year isn't an actual injection, like it has been other years, but a nasal spray, which makes the administering a lot easier! Well worth having if available to you. Especially where you live with all the snow and coldness!
Thanks for stopping by Sara; I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Lovely post. Such wonderful news Alexander got his first choice pre-school. Its always such a worry when your waiting for a result! Both mine had the nasal spray at school, its always good to get it done for extra protection. Have a wonderful weekend #littlelove
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree - Alexander has quite a good immune system, rarely gets ill, but I thought it worth being protected. I feel like the rarely getting ill thing will change though once in preschool!
DeleteHave a great weekend!
Well done for tackling the doctors appointment and battling your anxiety. And, congratulations on getting your first choice of pre-school, what a relief that must be for you. Sounds like you had a great week! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacie! I hope you've had a great weekend!
DeleteOh how exciting that he got his first choice of preschool? We will soon have to start looking at our local ones! Well done you for overcoming your anxiety.. Doctors make me anxious too but because of germs - the same as hospitals. Enjoy your weekend lovely! ox

Very happy mummy that he got in to the preschool of our choice. Thank you! I hope you've had a lovely weekend!
DeleteSounds like you're making some great steps with your anxiety - one day at a time eh? But what an achievement! I'm also watching all the old Gilmore Girls and it's taking me forever but I LOVE it! Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend putting all the festive touches to your home. I can't wait as we are doing ours too this weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteOne day at a time indeed :-)
DeleteI know right! I keep distracted by other shows on Netflix too so I'm watching Gilmore Girls on and off - but I really want to watch the new one what with all the buzz about!
Thank you - I hope you enjoy decorating for Christmas also :-)

ReplyDeleteHaha! No! There has been so much buzz over the Gilmore Girls reboot, but I have yet to see any spoilers thankfully!
DeleteThank you! I hope you've had a lovely weekend :-)
I'm so glad you got the preschool you wanted, and well done you for battling your anxiety!! I am so with you on Gilmore Girls, trying desperately to finish the original series before I watch the new ones xx
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThere are just so many episodes to Gilmore Girls - enjoying watching though :-)
Lovely to have you back on board with Little Loves Jade!
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic news about Alexander getting into your first choice of preschool. It's such a relief and makes a difference to know they will be going somewhere you and they like.
Enjoy Gilmore Girls! I'm tempted to start over from the beginning again xx
Thanks!
DeleteThat's so true - I didn't realise how stressful the whole applying to school situation could be until I was in it myself. The process is simple enough, its the waiting. What will I be like when I'm waiting for a full time school place?! Haha!
