The Christmas Tag

Today I'm sharing something a little different on my blog... The Christmas Tag! Thank you to Polly over at Our Seaside Baby for tagging me. I'm not going to tag anyone in particular, but I'd love to hear a little about how you do the holidays in the comments below.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE?
So many! Home Alone 1 & 2, The Santa Clause, A Christmas Carol (the animated one with Jim Carrey), and The Polar Express.

WHERE DO YOU USUALLY SPEND THE HOLIDAYS?
At home, here in Wales. We spend Christmas Day at home, just the three of us.

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM PLACE TO VISIT FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON?
Most likely because of how it is presented in media, but I would love to visit New York City at Christmas time - I imagine it to be so magical... And likely to snow also. I'd love snow on Christmas Day.

Somewhere else that I'd love to visit at Christmas, with the magical and likely overwhelming elements that I'm sure New York City possesses, is Walt Disney World.

However, I have no plans or intentions to travel during any holiday season, at all, much less many thousands of miles by plane. So dreams they shall remain!

DO YOU OPEN YOUR PRESENTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE OR CHRISTMAS MORNING?
Christmas morning, always.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MEMORY?
Nathan & I got engaged at Christmas, so that is my favourite - a lovely Christmas memory.

BE HONEST: DO YOU LIKE GIVING GIFTS OR RECEIVING GIFTS BETTER?
Controversial perhaps, but I'm not much of a gift giver - especially giving for the sake of it. If I have something in mind that I know another would want, something meaningful or useful, then I gift but I'm not known for gift giving. I also find gift giving to be quite stressful. The same with receiving gifts. I'd rather gift than receive though.

FAVOURITE FESTIVE FOOD?
I look forward to my Christmas roast all year long - our roast is meat free nowadays. And all the tinned chocolate, of course.

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SCENT?
The combination of chocolate & orange... Although a scent that can be experienced all year long, I strongly associate it with Christmas.

DO YOU HAVE ANY CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITIONS?
We bake cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve, eat our Christmas roast (a new tradition we started only last year but actually really prefer it), watch a Christmas film as a family, and read The Night Before Christmas to Alexander before bed.

WHAT TOPS YOUR TREE?
Growing up, we had an angel. In our household, we have a star.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A WHITE CHRISTMAS?
Not that I remember...

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
Like the films, so many! To name a few... I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday (Wizzard), Fairytale of New York (The Pogues), It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Andy Williams), and Merry Christmas Everyone (Slade).

IS YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE REAL OR FAKE?
Fake. I don't think I'd want to deal with the faff and upkeep of a real one.

ARE YOU A PROFESSIONAL PRESENT WRAPPER OR DO YOU FAIL MISERABLY?
I'm not a good wrapper, at all. When younger, I used to get my sister to wrap all my presents for me, but as I've got older (& had to do my own wrapping) I've gotten a little better. Progress... But still not great.

WHAT MAKES THE HOLIDAYS SPECIAL FOR YOU?
Family and the festivities... The feeling of joy that you can find widespread.
