Word of the Week | Drained

DRAINED

Whilst I do try to stay upbeat & positive here on my blog, across social media, and just generally in life - I do also maintain honesty; and that means accepting & sharing that this week hasn't been the best. We all have those weeks.

This past weekend was a super busy one for us. Nathan's parents came down from Birmingham for the weekend, so we packed activities in there (with long days), as well as a late night at the surprise birthday party of my stepdad... We tend to have pretty relaxed weekends, so it was a lot for us. Not only that, but being a very introverted person as well as someone who battles anxiety daily (including social anxiety), the weekend was not only a lot for me physically in terms of go, go, go but also mentally quite a challenge. Now don't get me wrong, as many of you can probably tell from my blog, I'm all about family - but prolonged time without much me time drains me. It always has. I'm very much someone that needs to invest in myself in order to give my all... And that's why this week has been a bit meh.

Too much time has been spent on screens, not the best foods have been eaten, and we've definitely not got out as much as we usually would.

I've been tired, I've had low energy, I've felt drained.

Initially I tried to push through at the start of the week, being as productive as possible and just going about my usual day to day life, however by time mid week hit I knew I should have just listened to myself & my body.

These past couple of days I've taken a lot slower, and accepted that some things just aren't going to get done this week - and I'm okay with that. We've got the long Bank Holiday weekend ahead of us, and that's the perfect time to relax & recharge.

  1. As a fellow introvert I know exactly what you mean. I have to prepare for socialising and it takes me days afterwards to feel somewhat normal again. I think you are right listening to your body and mind and accepting that the days following have to be slow ones, I have been much better since I accepted this too. I hope you have a lovely relaxing long weekend x #WotW

  2. Glad you were able to listen to your body mid-week and take things slower. Having busy periods often leaves me feeling drained too. Hope the bank holiday weekend will be just what you need to recharge your batteries again. #WotW

  7. I'm an introvert too. I know I need time to myself after busy events, so I always factor it in. Family time is lovely, but in small doses! Hope you have recovered now. #wotw
