Word of the Week | Snow

SNOW

Given the week we've had here in the UK with these treacherous weather conditions, I'm sure my word for the week is no surprise to many of you.

Snow has fallen, and what a lot of it too! Here in South Wales we had sparse and light snow showers on both Tuesday & Wednesday before being really hit by the snow towards the end of the week... With more still forecast! Nursery has been closed Thursday & today, which we were notified of on Wednesday afternoon due to the Met Office having put an amber alert on our local area for snow, wind and ice.

We've pretty much just been hibernating. Nathan went to work yesterday morning but came home just a couple of hours later. Waking up this morning, there is over 20cm of snow, and that's just what's against the front door - levels are much higher in other places. If the weather calms down today, I have said we can go out in the snow for a bit (only in the garden, mind you). We'll see about that though as the winds have been pretty wild!

I hope everyone has been safe, well and warm during this storm.... And roll on spring I say!

  1. Snap for this week’s word of the week! We haven’t had quite as much as you have though. It’s a shame that the wind means you can’t make the most of the snow though - hopefully it will die down later. Hibernating is very appealing at the moment! #WotW

    1. Hibernating was a lot of fun, but after two days I did start to get cabin fever - ha! We were able to enjoy the snow on Saturday, when those harsh winds had ceased.

A wonderful week ahead to you!

  3. We've got away lightly in comparison to most places but I've seen lots of people snowed in. Hibernating does sound lovely, we've had to brace the bitter wind on the school run so I'm hoping Spring makes an appearance really soon. Have a lovely weekend x

    1. The news presented the situation here pretty well then... Thankfully it is all letting off now and we should be back to normal soon. Hibernating was fun, but only for so long!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.

  6. We sound similar to you weatherwise, except not quite as many cms. The wind has been whipping it up. Woke this morning to drifts. Hope it calms down for you in a bit, so you can go and enjoy it. Have a good weekend. #wotw

    1. Thank you, Cheryl - we didn't get to go out in it on Friday, as the winds were just too harsh, but we did have some fun in the snow yesterday.

    1. Thank you, Polly! We didn't to go out in the snow on Friday, but Alexander was happy on Saturday as we went to the local shop and also played in the garden - after about an hour out in it, I was very much ready to come back in the warm. Haha!

I hope you have a lovely week ahead of you!

  13. I hope that things have warmed up for you. We've had sunshine over the weekend and the snow that has been lying for the last fortnight is almost melted. It's lovely to see the first spring flowers :o)
