Currently | February

READING | non-fiction seems to have been the theme for my reading this past month, with a few other books interspersed including a couple of Agatha Christie mysteries and a time travel novel that gripped me enough to have finished it in a 48 hour time span - Valley of the Moon by Melanie Gideon.

WATCHING | too many show pilots on Netflix, only to not continue beyond that with them... I just want to find a really good show to get stuck into.

USING | lavender essential oil to aid in sleeping. I'm a terrible sleeper at the best of times, but early on in February I was at peak sleep deprivation - I came across a bottle of lavender essential oil whilst tidying up some drawers and decided to sprinkle a couple of drops on my pillow that night... And have done so every night since!

EATING | homemade meat free shepherd's pie. I kind of just made the recipe up as I went along but the meal went down well in our household - it was delicious. I'd definitely make it again.

OPENING | the first book of 3 in my book subscription service from The Willoughby Book Club. I'm happy with the book I received, and it was also lovely to get some post that was unknown - in terms of I knew it was coming, but I didn't know the contents.

CHALLENGING | myself to a 30 day no spend challenge (not including bills, groceries etc), which began on the 21st of Feb. Really and truthfully it is more turning into a low spend challenge than a no spend challenge, but all the same I'm looking forward to what I learn from it as well as seeing if I implement any money changes because of it.

EXPERIENCING | some of the oddest weather! We've had snow showers, some of the highest winds I've felt, plenty of rain but also plenty of blue sky & sunshine - and now we're in the middle of one of the worst winter snow storms we've seen for a good while. The weather isn't exactly ever settled or set in stone here in the UK, but what I am looking forward to is some warmth.

FINDING | February to be a struggle of a month, if I'm honest. I've felt very restless in myself, it hasn't been the easiest parenting month and also there was the news of a relative (from London) being seriously ill in hospital. It has been a lot, to say the least. There has been a fair amount of sadness and sorrow, but I've kept up with my daily positives all month long and am holding onto the good moments and memories.

FEELING | optimistic for the month ahead.

  1. ...wishing you a marvelous March.

  2. The weather has been so unpredictable here too! In fact it is still snowing outside now.
I'm so sorry to hear that your relative is unwell, that must be such a worry. I hope next month is a better one for you, sending hugs!

Thanks for sharing with #MMBC xx
