Little Loves | The Month of June

With the month of June now closing, I thought I'd wrap up the month that has been with my monthly #LittleLoves instalment... Speaking of monthly, I have been considering returning these posts back to weekly, but for now, I haven't settled on anything.

June has been a funny old month overall and I don't entirely know what to make of it; in my personal life as well as world events, there has just been a lot of things going on. Ups and downs. Uncertainties. I think now is even more of a time to focus on the positives surrounding us.

I hope the month of June has treated you well, and that the same can be said for July.

READ
At the start of June I was able to experience the beauty of Kate Morton's story telling for the second time, fully immersed in The Lake House. It was one of those books that wraps you up and transports you, with well crafted characters, a layered plot and the most perfect ending. I did write a full review of The Lake House by Kate Morton over on my book blog if you wanted to hear more detailed thoughts.

WATCHED
I have been loving the daily vlogs of Katie of mummydaddyme this month. I don't tend to watch any vloggers consistently on a day to day basis, but I have kept up with all the content Katie has been sharing in June.

MADE
We made the journey to Bristol Zoo, by coach, for Alexander's very first school trip. Alexander hoped to see a giraffe, however they don't have those in Bristol Zoo, but he did enjoy seeing the lions, giant tortoises and also the aquarium area. There are animatronic dinosaurs at Bristol Zoo which I thought Alexander would be keen to see, and his interest soon turned to apprehension as the animatronics started to move and make sounds. He also rode on the merry-go-round, twice. All in all a successful first school trip - we were both knackered once home!

WORE
Although it finished over a week ago now, that heatwave was hard to dress for, wasn't it?! Whilst I do love a bit of sunshine, we don't typically experience such temperatures here in the UK and we aren't a family that travels to sunnier climes regularly, so I definitely didn't feel like I had the appropriate clothing for the weather. But then again, I don't think anyone did really! During the heatwave I did add a couple of new pieces to my summer wardrobe, although nothing too note worthy, a couple of lightweight tops that I purchased from F&F at Tesco. I'm not the most fashionable of people, but I do think some nice pieces can be found at the supermarket clothing lines.

HEARD
Happy birthday to you, sung so nicely by Alexander, although he did end it with 'Happy Birthday to mummy, daddy and Alexander'. Haha! I celebrated my 26th birthday in the middle of June. The opening picture of this post is a snapshot of a flower arrangement I received for my birthday.

AND LASTLY...
My most viewed post in June was a little write up I shared of one our favourite places to visit here in South Wales - Cwmcarn Forest. If you're an outdoorsy family or just looking for an adventure then I would recommend considering a visit - there is something for everyone.

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND AHEAD & A GREAT START TO THE MONTH OF JULY!

Bristol Zoo sounds fantastic, we've not been to the zoo in ages. I must book a trip in the school holidays.

  4. Beautiful photo Jade. I agree about not knowing what to wear, I stocked up on loads of shorts for the kids for our holiday in Wales and it poured down most of the time we were there. June really has been a funny month. Hope you had a nice birthday. #LittleLoves

    1. You can always rely on Wales for some rain - we live in South Wales and I always have a raincoat to hand! I hope the rain didn't spoil your holiday.

Thank you! I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  6. I totally agree with the weather! It was so hot and like you we don't go to sunnier climes. I struggled immensely with the heat and I am rather enjoying the cooler days of late! School trips are fun aren't they? I always put my name forward to help and I always really enjoy myself. Its such an insight as to what they do! I have loved watching Katie's vlogs. Hope you had a lovely birthday! xx
