Little Loves | KonMari, Wedding Makeup and Spontaneous Wanderings

You may or may not have noticed, but I missed another Little Loves post last week... So much for that goal of taking part each week eh.

We spent the beginning part of last week in Birmingham for a family commitment, arriving back home in Wales just after 7pm on Wednesday evening. For the remainder of that week I just felt like I was playing catch up with all life things and so blogging took a backseat there.

For the most part, this week has been back to usual routine, happily so, and we're looking forward to half term this coming week. I'm hoping for at least one day of winter sunshine. If you had half term this week, then I hope you had a lovely one with your family.

READ
I've had a few books on the go this week... As usual. I wanted to talk about the non fiction title I've been reading: The Life Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo. I'm well aware that I'm like one of the last people to read this book, but the KonMari method has intrigued me since all the buzz first began and so I recently borrowed a copy from my local library.

I like to think that in the last couple of years, I've become quite mindful of my possessions, however having read this title, I feel like I've actually come away even more mindful than before! I'm not going to lie, I won't be implementing the KonMari method in to my life, and I definitely think there are some bizarre elements to the method, but I feel like I've come away from the book having been given a kick up the backside... A much needed kick up the backside, may I add.

WATCHED
I've started watching American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson on Netflix - I'm about half way through the series, and enjoying so far.

HEARD
Bit of a random one - we've had Daddy home two extra days this week and I've loved being able to get a bit more done around the house without my shadow in tow (aka Alexander). In doing so, Alexander has spent more time with Daddy, and I love listening to their chatter when I'm out of the room. Basically, eavesdropping!! I just love the interactions between them and the bond they share. They are like two peas in a pod!

MADE
There have been so many puzzles made in our household this week. Alexander has always quite enjoyed puzzles, but this week we've graduated to puzzles of a larger size than previously made - he got a box of Mr Men puzzles for Christmas with loads of puzzles of varying sizes and we've worked a lot on the 100 piece puzzles.

WORE
As with most weeks, I have nothing new to feature here... However this week I do have a question. I'm looking for some wedding makeup recommendations, more specifically, I'm looking for a long wearing, medium coverage foundation. I don't wear makeup very often these days, in fact I couldn't even recall the last time I did, and so I'm very much out of the loop on these things. If you have a recommendation of a foundation you wear regularly, or even one you wore on your own wedding day, I'd love to hear about it.

AND LASTLY...
On Monday, I headed on out for a spontaneous walk post dinner time - such a rarity for me as I'm usually winding Alexander down for the evening at this sort of time, but with Nathan home I was able to sneak in a little me time. There was a brisk winter breeze, the sky was my favourite kind of blue, and with camera in hand I enjoyed a wander. Simple pleasures.

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

  1. Sounds like a lovely week. I love listening to Parker and Daddy, the time they spend together is so precious as he works so much. Swimming has become their new thing. How lovely to go for an early evening walk, I don't walk enough but love it when I do take the opportunity. I've not read Marie Kondo's book, not sure it's really for me. Enjoy half term week xx

    1. Ah, it's great that Parker and his Dad have an activity they can share and bond over. Oh, I love walking. These days though, my walking is just to and from nursery, so it was nice to have a wander with no destination. Thanks - I hope you've had a lovely weekend.

  2. It is lovely seeing our children with their daddy. I never see my littlest as excited as when my husband gets in from work. I keep meaning to read the Marie Kondo book. Enjoy half term.

  3. You're not the only one who hasn't read the Marie Kondo thing, I was going to read it but about a billion other books keep getting in the way. Plus I hate tidying! Loved the OJ Simpson thing on Netflix, such a good series. I may even watch it again, once I've rewatched Gilmore Girls - again! Have a great weekend x

    1. Haha - I know the feeling of other books cropping up. I'm really enjoying the OJ series; getting through it a lot quicker than I thought I would. Oh, I do love rewatching things; I hope you're enjoying Gilmore Girls, again. Haha! I hope you've had a lovely weekend.

  8. American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson was so good! I loved it. Clinique's make up range is really lovely, goes on well. I used to wear it all the time but children soon changed that as its a tad expensive but worth it, the foundation lasts for ages. Have a wonderful week xx

  9. Aww your little walk out sounds really lovely, I enjoy getting a little bit of me time. With regards to the make up I would recommend taking yourself along to the No7 boots counter and asking their advice, they'll do a little makeover for you and you might then buy one of the products. I use a combination of two, a foundation and a tinted moisturiser to add a little colour. I hope you've had a great week x #littleloves
