Little Loves | Harry Potter, Black Mirror and Winter Warmers

READ
So far this month I've just been indulging in a reread - I had the urge to delve into my Harry Potter collection and so that's what I've been reading. I'm hoping to have my reread finished by the end of the month, and have so far completed The Philosopher's Stone and am part way through the second title, so we'll see.

WATCHED
I started watching Black Mirror on Netflix after Morgana mentioned it last week. Whilst it is quite dark and twisted, I love the overall premise of the show and have moved on to season 2 after watched the first season in the one night - it was only 3 episodes, I'm not that much of a binge watcher!

I recently noticed that Gone Girl is on Netflix. I've read the book, and quite enjoyed, but am unsure whether to give the film a go. Also, the film is 2 and half hours, so that's seriously committing!

HEARD
I have nothing for the heard section this week.

MADE
This week Alexander's interest in his Toot Toot sets has been reignited and he has been having a lot of fun creating a variety of train tracks. He is super good at problem solving when something goes wrong, and we have spent a lot of time playing on the floor with these this week!

WORE
The winter warmers are officially out - hats, scarves and gloves have all been worn this week.

AND LASTLY...
We're off to the cinema tomorrow and I'm equal parts excited and anxious. This is our first time taking Alexander to the cinema, so I'm not too sure how it's going to go, but he does really enjoy watching films at home. We're opting go to for the morning children's session at our local Cineworld, as that way if there are any issues I feel like they're more likely to be accepted than in a general movie viewing. I feel like this is probably one of those parenting moments where I'm worrying more than needed! Hopefully all goes well and we have a good time as its our outing for Alexander's birthday (he turns 3 on Monday).

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

  1. Ah good luck with that cinema trip. I think you're wise going in the morning and giving yourselves an option to escape if he can't sit still. I'm sure you won't be the only ones there with little kiddies. I've not ventured into the world of Black Mirror yet but have Netflix so will check it out. Have a great weekend!

    1. The cinema trip was a success - thankfully!!

You should check out Black Mirror if and when you have time. What's great about it is that every episode is an individual story really and so you aren't having to connect all the dots and follow multiple storylines like you need to with some series.

      Thanks - I hope you're having a great weekend!

  4. Eek! A cinema trip, how wonderful. I hope Alexander loves it. I think I need to re-read Harry Potter, hoping I get TCOS illustrated edition for Christmas. I've heard lots about Black Mirror, but I'm not much of a TV watcher. I got Gone Girl on DVD in the summer (reduced in Sainsburys for £3) and still haven't gotten round to watching it. I did LOVE the book though.

Have fun celebrating Alexander's birthday on Monday and enjoy your weekend xx

    1. The cinema was a success - Finding Dory was amazing as was Alexander's behaviour!

I have the second illustrated HP on my Christmas list also, so fingers crossed for both of us! What I'm really enjoying about Black Mirror is that the episodes themselves are standalones really, and so whilst there is an overall theme running in them, there isn't a plot line to be committed to throughout. I don't know if maybe something like that could suit you TV wise... I'm not a big TV watcher either - I can be so flitty! I loved Gone Girl in book format!

Thank you - I hope you're having a great weekend!

  5. I hope you enjoy the cinema trip. My eldest is 3 and a half and I've still not taken her to the cinema yet! I have a 5 month old too so it may be a while before I take her the cinema.

    1. Thanks! The cinema trip turned out to be really great - thankfully! I think it can be hard deciding when is the right time to take your child to the cinema, but especially so when there are siblings involved.

      I hope you're having a great weekend :-)

  6. Hope the cinema trip goes well! I've seen gone girl but not read it. Which is so unusual for me as I definitely prefer to read first! #littleloves x

Haha - I'm very much the same, I always prefer to read the book before watching the film.

    1. Nathan and I are big film watchers, and so I've been super excited to take Alexander but feeling like now was the right time - and it proved to be, he was so well behaved!

I think the Harry Potter series are the kind of books that get better each time you read them. I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your reread :-)

  8. Often I feel uncomfortable at the cinema, because the volume is so terribly loud. I hope that is not the case there and in the children's session.
Reading Harry Potter is one of the big pleasures in life. :)
Happy weekend to you all and a happy birthday to Alexander! xx

    1. Oh I definitely know what you mean, Sara - the pre film trailers seemed to be on the highest possible volume, but the film itself seemed to be of a regular volume. Our ears were thankful for that!

Ah, thank you! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
