Little Loves | Autumn Walks, Library Finds and Blogtober

Little Loves is a weekly linky hosted by Morgana of Coffee, Work, Sleep, Repeat - the idea behind the Little Loves linky is being able to recall and record the little things that have made your week.

READ
I expected to be reading less in the month of October, due to challenging myself with 'blogtober' on my book blog, however reading has been going pretty well so far this month... We'll see if it continues!

I started October reading All Fall Down by Tom Bale; a really gripping psychological thriller, and then followed that up with Susan Hill's newest collection of ghost stories: The Travelling Bag and Other Ghostly Stories. I'm now currently reading a much slower paced book - My Grandmother Sends Her Regards & Apologies by Fredrik Backman.

Alexander snagged some great finds on our library visit this week - we found a couple of titles we'd been looking at to purchase, including Zog and the Flying Doctors by Julia Donaldson. Also, as always seems to be the case, Alexander honed in on Thomas the Tank Engine books and we actually ended up borrowing the newest book in the Engine Adventures collection.

WATCHED
Has anyone else watched the new Amanda Knox documentary on Netflix? The case is one of those high profile ones that I never really knew what to make of in terms of guilt, but having now watched the documentary, I don't think Knox and her boyfriend were involved. The documentary was really interesting, and I don't think biased to any one party with interviews from the police detective in charge of the case, Amanda Knox, Raffaele Sollecito, and also a prominent journalist who was on the case at the time.

If you like crime documentaries and haven't yet watched this one, I recommend checking it out.

HEARD
Toddler crunching leaves underfoot and splashing in puddles - I love this time of year!

MADE
One of the meals we've had for dinner this week is meatball subs. I've never made meatball subs, and of course they aren't anything complicated to make, but I'm always a little unsure when it comes to making new meals, especially when not following a recipe. The subs turned out delicious though, and we'd definitely make them again... Although this time I won't burn the tops of the buns. Oops!

WORE
Olive, and burgundy, and all the autumnal tones! I'm so glad we've settled in to the autumn weather now; although here in Wales that does mean a return to almost daily rain. I've officially pulled out my autumn/winter clothes and replaced them in the under bed storage with my summer ones. I found a grey turtleneck that I had totally forgot about, as I bought it at the very end of last winter and never actually got round to wearing it - I love finding forgotten things like that.

AND LASTLY...
We had such beautiful autumnal sunshine on Sunday and we went for a walk to one of our local forest / nature spots - it's actually one of my favourite places to visit, and I do wish we lived closer. It was fun exploring trails we hadn't before with Alexander, as previously we were bound by the buggy. I shared a 'Walk With Me' post from our outing, which you can find here.

I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

  1. Very interesting and beautiful!
Except that I was living in Italy when Meredith Kercher was murdered, and Amanda Knox is the last person about whom I would like to see a documentary. :)
    Have a great weekend! xx

  2. Interesting, I went to watch the documentary the other night but wasn't in the right mood for it. Might try again over the weekend. Sounds like you've been reading lots, I like the sound of All Fall Down, sounds like my kind of read. Enjoy your weekend!

    1. That makes sense - I watched it in two parts to be honest.

All Fall Down is currently at a really good price for on the Kindle, in case you were interested.

I hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I spotted that doc on Netflix the other day but can't bring myself to watch it. One of my friends was good friends with Meredith so it just seems too close to home.
I love all the Autumnal fashion and the colours, olive and burgundy are just perfect aren't they? I need to put away all my summer stuff, and organise my wardrobe.
    Have a lovely weekend xx

  4. I am loving wearing autumnal tones at the moment too - I've already broken out my burgundy coat and am itching to wear it out. Those deep, rich colours really make me happy come autumn. I'm hoping to watch the new Amanda Knox tonight or tomorrow as it does look good, and I love crime documentaries so I must watch it soon. - Tasha

    1. Oh, I'm the same Tasha - I've got my winter coat washed and prepped, ready to go!

If you like crime documentaries then I think you'll find the Amanda Knox one quite interesting - I really like the way it was shot, and also how they didn't just focus on interviewing one or two people involved; but looking at different angles.

    1. Meatball subs are so yummy, and they proved to be a hit with toddler - although he ate a deconstructed meatball sub.

  7. It sounds like you've had a lovely week - I'm loving that we're properly into autumn now too, although my wardrobe needs some serious updating! I watched the documentary too and I also don't think she was involved - I was shocked at how the media really picked on her. xx

    1. Autumn is just such a lovely time of year.. I'm loving the crisper days, and crunchy falling leaves, and bundling up. My wardrobe is all sorted for A/W now, but shopping for updates is always fun!

I totally agree with you regarding the Knox documentary, and case in general - I think there was quite a media frenzy surrounding her and that definitely didn't help the police investigation.

  8. Oh love the Autumn time and colors to go with it. Time to get the layers out and put away summer gear for good now. It's the best time of year for walks isn't it? Haven't heard of the documentary not sure it's my thing but sounds like a lot watching it. Happy week ahead. #littleloves
